All good comments.

FYI - I'm not against cloud computing, nor am I saying that "it's not ready for prime time." Many of the companies I've invested in are using cloud computing (mostly Amazon, others also) for parts of their infrastructure. The point that I was trying to make (which I apparently didn't make that well) was that while cloud computing simplifies some things, it doesn't simply all, and in many cases introduces new layers of complexity.

I expect a lot of this gets worked out in the next few years. There are a lot of opportunities for startups around the cloud computing ecosystem to help address these issues. And - I think there are some fundamental "transformations" that a few of them might end up being able to make that enable the cloud computing infrastructure to be even more broadly used.
